Alia Kamal is a self taught artist. Being part of the richer class in Bangladesh, she went to good schools, with high level art classes, where she learned technique, but not to create new images. After studying and working in the United States, she returned to Bangladesh, with the wish to contribute something to society. Here she work for BRAC, a NGO, and their art education program. Here she realized that we the children are being taught how not to be creative, but to copy others work. She is developing her own style in her work, meanwhile fighting for a more fundamental creative education for the Bangladeshi children. In the Dhaka art project she is developing her relationship with her father, which has been lost, and helps with the many organizational things necessary to pull of a project of kind.
